Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Actual score: 0 stars When we called to ask what time time their open they kept on hanging up. Then the fourth time we called they got an attitude and asked us why we kept calling. We still don't know what times they are open. If they are to impatient to talk on the phone I wonder how their service will be.

Excellent food that comes out fast and fresh. Service is attentive but not overbearing. Their lunch specials are fantastic too. This is my go-to spot when I'm either in North Augusta or downtown Augusta (MUCH better than the Mi Ranchos by the Riverwalk). It's far from authentic but pretty good nonetheless!

I have no idea why this place is rated so highly. I ordered a spinach enchilada. It came out super fast, was like warm, and inedible. It was so gross, I ate one bite and got my check. If you're looking for a Mexican microwave dinner served to on cheap dinnerware, then this is your place!

Typical Mexican cuisine, well done and with massive portions. Service is usually fast. Like most places, you get salsa. Like most places, it's cold. I prefer it warm.

Our experience was not great due to the lack of cleanliness in the kitchen, however, props to the manager for handling it correctly. Good luck to them with setting things right.

Nice Mexican. Not more to say about this one. Consistently good.

Great food, great prices and a clean place to dine-what more can you ask for !

Ok Mexican food. It's a little bland for my taste. I have to cover everything in hot sauce to give it flavor. Those who like seasoning, go to Teresa's in NA. Other than that, it's decent and we go there if someone else is already going there.

Im really not a fan of mexican food....I have to really have a taste for it. But the food here is good enough for my craving. This place is huge for a mexican restaurant. I went on a weekday right after lunch and just before dinner and the place was quite busy. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious as well. The nachos here were quite good, I normally hate the nachos at a mexican restaurant because they are bland and very dry, but not here they were very delicious and I could compare them to Tostitos. The food is affordable too, so when I have a craving for mexican food....this place will be my stop!!!

Average / mediocre Mexican food with average service. I mean, if you can't wait for Mexican food and you are close by it will suit the purpose, however there are much tastier options across the river in Augusta. I don't seek this place out.

Great restaurant fast service! We eat here two or three times a month! Everyone's always very friendly and the price is great!!

North Augusta's biggest and busiest "Restaurante Mexicano". Food is consistently good. Fast and friendly service. Disappointing draft beer list does not include Dos Equis. Busiest on Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Good mexican food. Chips and Salsa the best in town. Manager always greets you with a smile.

We've been here many times and it's always great. For the first time ever, my order was a little late but our great server apologized for the short wait, so it wasn't a problem.

Well, we were looking for some Mexican food and saw this place had 4 stars. I had been here before back when they were in the green building across the street. I had good memories from before I moved to California back in 2010. When I arrived they gave me some chips that were obviously peanut oiled. The salsa was pretty liquid quality. When they poured my soda, it must have overflowed cause the sides were sticky. (Hoping to god that was the reason). I ordered a combination of enchiladas and a taco. It tasted like everything was microwaved like an el paso frozen Mexican dinner at the grocery store frozen food section, except I liked those better. The food was not even hot on the inside. It was pretty bland. My girlfriend can cook better Mexican food and she is indian...by the way she ordered the fajitas lunch special. Hers was actually good. For the price, the amount of fodd was decent but would argue against the quality. I still have the taste of peanut oil in my mouth. Maybe I am just spoiled from living on the west side of the country and having great Mexican food, but this food was not pleasing in any sense. I ended up going to taco bell down the road later that evening. My advice is stick with the fajitas or something else required to be stir fried. I am sorry but I do not understand how this got 4 stars. It is like eating gas station microwavable tacos and burritos.

I visited here after a road trip. Initially, I wasn't going to stop here to eat because the parking lot was crowded and I assumed the wait time would be long. To my surprise, I was seated as soon as I entered and in a booth away from lots of noise, which was great. The wait staff was quick and the food options were vast. After I was seated I invited my sister and again assumed it would order and it would arrive after my sister. My food was prepared and delivered before my sister arrived. They also made her food quickly, so we were able to eat together. Everything was good and hot. The restaurant is very clean and can accommodate large groups. We sat adjacent from a large group and they had plenty of space at the large dining table. The staff was nice and check back often. The next time I ride by and view a crowded lot, I won't let it deter me, because Monterrey's have proven themselves efficient!

Great food huge portions (plan to take some home for next day). Not a big fan of Mexican but when I'm in the mood this is a great place to go.

This is a standard Mexican restaurant, nothing to write home about, but good food at an excellent value and food is better than average for the Augusta area. The owners are very nice (they care about their customers, which I like), service is excellent and this place is always crowded at meal time. They have a bar, so you can get a beer, Margarita, or any other adult beverage of your choice. I have had a wide range of dishes there and all are quite good. Chips and salsa is great, excellent chile rellenos, guacamole, tacos, tamales and enchiladas. Of course, you get shredded iceburg lettuce (one day, a Mexican restaurant will dump the iceburg). Overall, great value in a nice, family friendly atmosphere.

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to in this area (actually, period!) Good food, good margaritas, good service, very nice owner! They do get busy at times but with reason!

Best Mexican since I lived in California! Definitely a must have and worth the drive. Service is top notch!

Let's be real... The food here is ok, cheap Mexican. It does not compare to most Mexican restaurants in Texas. Most Mexican restaurants in the CSRA are in the range. I been here many times for a quick cheap lunch, good service. I can't see giving this place any more than 3 stars.

Fantastic food, decent atmosphere, nice people, but slooowwwww service every time I go. I seem to wait for refills all of the time here, both chips and drinks.

Ambience. B Service. A Food. B Price. A I only frequent this restaurant as my friends really like this place and it's close to their home in north Augusta. It's okay for my palette. It's cheap and cheerful and all about the company one keeps! You can bring big parties here. If you have 6 or more I recommend calling ahead and making a reservation so they can preset a table for you, otherwise, the restaurant is huge to accommodate small parties. If you ever need to wait, get those host warning lights and go sit at the bar until called! There's lots if seating at the bar! They make a nice coaster! And might as well start drinking if you have to wait! This place is always crowded when I go and thats a good thing! Looking over the American style Mexican menu, there's a huge variety to choose. Just ask for what is more true Mexican faire. I see they have a very nice seafood soup! Salsa are freshly made. I like the mild, tomatillo, and for a cost the HOT "caliente" salsas. Only on request. Our girl server was on top if her game. Friendly, taking orders and constantly checking and dealing with our odd requests! Flavors are always good. I enjoy the fresh chips with the cheese dip sauce. Nicely warmed and creamy Queso cheese and spices. Pitcher magaritas is a good start. $17.95 for full and they do sell half pitchers. I ordered the combo $7.95 of poblano chili with beef and 2 beef tamal. And the chopped beef wasn't over salty today. Seems they'll let you order three items to go on the dish. They seem to have forgotten my salad and beans but I didn't really want today. I'll bring it up next time. Presentation was sloppy but flavors were good today. It was over salty prior visits. If you want a caliente homemade salsa they'll give you big bowl for $.75! It's spicy and I love spicy. However, I had to use sparingly. Whew!!
